[ARCHIVED] Maricopa County Tallies Nearly All Ballots Today

Maricopa County has counted nearly all ballots cast in the August Primary Election today.

There are 2,385 remaining ballots, which include those with signature issues and provisional ballots. The Elections Department has contacted all of those voters. State law says that those voters have until 5 p.m. on August 11 to provide additional information to the Elections Department before their ballot can be counted.

Updated unofficial results show voters cast 857,873 ballots, which represents about 35.29 percent of total eligible voters. Remaining ballots include:

  • Estimated early ballots left to process and tabulate: 353
  • Estimated provisional ballots left to process: 119. The Elections Department has determined 935 will not be counted. 746 provisional ballots were counted and are included in the results today.
  • Estimated number of early ballots left to verify: 1,913.


More Maricopa County voters participated in the 2020 August Primary Election than ever before. Voters cast 699,636 ballots in the 2018 Primary and 555,844 ballots in the 2016 Primary.

The Elections Department will post final unofficial results on Tuesday, August 11 after the 5 p.m. deadline.
