(Wickenburg) – On Monday, August 21, the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department will temporarily close the Hassayampa River Preserve, located in Wickenburg.
“From August 21 through September 1, our staff will be hard at work performing minor upgrades and repairs around the property. Right now, the weather is still warm, and traffic is light at the Preserve. Closing during this timeframe will allow us to perform the work without greatly impacting visitor traffic,” said R.J. Cardin, Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department Director.
When the Hassayampa River Preserve reopens for business on Wednesday, September 2, visitors will notice cosmetic repairs such as fresh paint and new flooring. Additionally, structural repairs such as building patchwork, electrical system upgrades, improvements to the roofing, and a new air-conditioning unit may be less noticeable but are very important in maintaining a quality visitor experience.
“We greatly appreciate the community’s patience during this time,” added Cardin. The Hassayampa River Preserve's regular business hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with trails closing at 3:30 p.m.
