Maricopa County Supervisor Steve Chucri has found a new way to serve his community and country. His latest endeavor involves a new title: Mr. Chucri is Arizona’s Honorary Consul to the Republic of Estonia.
“I come from a family of immigrants, so I know how challenging it can be to find your place in a new land,” said Chucri. “As Honorary Consul, I’ll be working to find new ways for commerce between Arizona and Estonia as well as being the point of contact for Estonians living in Arizona, helping them solve problems and connect them to the people and resources that will enrich their lives in our great state.”
The Republic of Estonia has 15 honorary consuls in the United States who provide consular assistance to Estonian citizens and also work to advance economic and cultural relations. Chucri was selected for the honorary post by the Republic of Estonia and approved as a diplomat by the U.S. State Department.
In addition to his role as Maricopa County Supervisor for District 2, Chucri is also the president & CEO of the Arizona Restaurant Association.
